We are very excited about our young crop of horses this year and heading that list is the very talented Western Winter colt What a Winter. We acquired him from Daytona Stud and he is now unbeaten from two starts in Kwa-Zulu Natal where he spent the season with Mike. |

The sale started off slowly and after the first night, the sale was down 50% compared to the prior year after the same number of lots (125). However, days two and three showed marked recovery and eventually the total sale turnover ended 14,8% down on the previous year and the average price just 4,1%. |

| I attended the TBA sale in a dual capacity this year representing Mike Bass Racing as well as my new role as the National representative for Kuda Insurance. Although sale figures were slightly down on last years, the sale itself was very enjoyable and as expected there was always money for good horses. | |

The 2010 Equus Awards was held at the Emperors Palace Casino last night, 12th August. Irish Flame, bred by Millenium stud, was awarded Horse of the Year for the Mike de Kock stable who, in addition, claimed the title of Trainer of the Year. Owner of the Year went to Marcus and Ingrid Jooste and Champion jockey was awarded to Anton Marcus. Summerhill Stud was named Champion Breeder. View the full results of the 2010 Equus Awards. |
